What to Expect as a Participant

10 Sessions: May 2022 - March 2023

60-90 minutes led by experts in the field

The Learning Circle aims to serve as a forum for participant-led conversations that help participants in their day-to-day work and contribute to insights that benefit the sector as a whole. We hope that participants come out of these meetings with a better understanding of X so that they can Y. The topics below serve as a starting point for our discussions. Further topics will be developed based on input from participants.

What is learning & what can we learn about it?

This session will begin with a discussion of the questions about learning and knowledge sharing that individual participants want to bring to the table. We will set the scene by exploring definitions of knowledge mobilization and share examples of knowledge mobilization structures in other fields, as well as recent developments within Canada to create new ways of capturing data and knowledge for both the business and the nonprofit sectors.

How does learning happen in the nonprofit sector?

This session dives into the challenges we face as a sector due to our lack of shared learning, why this is a problem, and some of the barriers that prevent our progress. We will explore existing structures within our sector that support learning and knowledge generation as well as some of the developments in this space.
